"OBJETIVE: to obtain the conception of professionals of health, residents of Multiprofessional Residence in Health Program, about the process of Public Management of Mental Health Services and to comprehend theinfluence of process of management in the education of resident professionals.
METHOD: Qualitative and descriptive research, produced with 13 resident professionals. The data was collected through a semistructured interview and analyzed by thematic area.
RESULTS: It was observed the importance of the manager in health has some knowledge about mental health and the politics that rule them. Still, the participation of residents in management contributes in professional education.
CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the management implicates directly in the process of teamwork and in professional qualification of residents, through lived experiences.
